Survival Preparedness is being prepared before disaster strikes.
Whether man-made or natural, being prepared is the key to surviving.
With a little common sense and maybe a little research, you can de-
cide what natural disasters your most likely to experience. This
could be as simple as a blanket and a change of clothes in a sports
bag or overnight case in the trunk of your car to a weeks supply of
food and bottled water set aside in the corner of the pantry.
Survival preparedness will differ from one area to another based
on region. For instance, in the North, survival preparedness would
be the afore mentioned blanket and change of clothes, in areas that
have a history power outages during the harsh cold, a few days of
non-parishable foods and bottled water wouldn't be a bad idea.
Survival preparedness in the Mid-west would be more involved, in
areas that experience tornadoes, there you need to have a storm
shelter or cellar. Then the shelter/cellar needs to be stocked
with food, bottled water, cooking supplies (camp stove),clothes,
bedding, and of course a bathroom. This way you won't be complete-
ly dependent, if at all, on the Red Cross or FEMA.
Survival preparedness in the South-east, where hurricanes pose the
largest challenge to survival, preparedness a few days of food,
bottled water, and in all these locations a battery powered radio
is invaluable.
As you may have noticed, this has been a broad over-view to intro-
